About ARW

ARW (Alpha RAW) covers Sony’s digital cameras from the a100 in 2006 through the current a7 and a1 bodies, which makes it the RAW format of one of the biggest mirrorless families there is.

Sony’s newest bodies write very large, very detailed RAWs (61 megapixels adds up), and Sony’s own software is not everyone’s favorite place to spend an evening. A local converter that eats a whole folder in one drag is the practical alternative.

Good to know

  • Compressed and uncompressed ARW variants supported.
  • Development is automatic and neutral.
  • Everything runs on your machine, offline.
