How to convert HEIC to JPG

Three steps, none of them technical.

1

Drop your HEIC files in

One photo or a whole folder. HEIC is what iPhones shoot by default, so a drag straight out of your phone dump works fine.

2

JPG is already the default

On the standard setting, every photo comes out as a JPG. You don’t have to set anything. (If you want it in writing, it’s under Settings, Output format.)

3

Hit Squish

The finished JPGs land next to your originals under new names, usually a good bit smaller than the HEICs they came from. Nothing is overwritten.

Why won't these photos open on my PC?

HEIC is the photo format iPhones have used by default since 2017. It stores the same picture in roughly half the space of a JPG, which is great on the phone and annoying everywhere else. Windows mostly refuses to open it without extra parts, plenty of photo programs still don’t know it, and just about every website form wants JPG anyway.

That’s the exact job Image Squisher was built around: photos go in, in whatever format they arrived, and come out as small standard JPGs. Converting and shrinking happen in the same pass, and the result is checked against your original before it’s saved.

Good to know

  • No extra parts to buy or install. Everything needed ships inside the app.
  • Whole batches convert in one go.
  • Location info and camera serial numbers come off by default.
  • It runs offline. Your photos never leave the computer.

Questions, answered

Will the JPGs look worse than the HEICs?

You decide how close with one slider. At the recommended setting the result is compared against your original before saving, and it looks like the same photo.

I have hundreds of HEICs. One by one?

No. Drag the whole folder in. Batches run one after another, and each file gets its own result line so you always know what happened.

Is it really free?

Yes. It costs nothing, needs no account, and whole batches run one after another. Every input format and the full quality engine are included. If you point it at a really big collection you’ll eventually meet the free limit; Pro ($9 once) removes it and adds a watch folder, or you can simply come back tomorrow.

Does it upload my photos anywhere?

No. Everything happens on your computer. There is no account, no cloud, no watermark, and it works fine offline.

Your JPGs are one drag away.
