Compress HEIC Files
Image Squisher compresses HEIC files locally. iPhone photos get looked at individually and re-encoded at full effort, with the result checked against the original. One honest note: the universal output is JPG, so squishing HEICs also converts them, which is usually what people wanted anyway.

How to compress HEIC files
Three steps.
Drop your HEICs in
One or a whole camera roll’s worth.
Pick a word on the slider
Smallest to Original. The recommended setting looks like the original photo.
Hit Squish
Small, standard JPGs come out under new names. (Staying in HEIC isn’t an option; almost nothing writes it outside Apple, and the goal is photos that open everywhere.)
iPhone photos, round two
HEIC already uses modern compression, so iPhones take decent care of your storage by default. But the files that leave your phone, via AirDrop, cloud, or cable, still land at 2 to 5 MB each, and years of them add up exactly like every other photo pile.
The second pass is where the honest gains live: re-encoding with per-photo care at maximum effort typically takes another 50 to 80% off iPhone photos with no visible change, and you end up with JPGs that open everywhere as a bonus.
Good to know
- Output is standard JPG (opens everywhere) at a fraction of the size.
- Live Photo video halves are handled sensibly at higher quality settings.
- Nothing uploaded; runs offline.
Questions, answered
Wait, my HEICs become JPGs?
Yes. The universal output family is JPG, and since you likely wanted these on a PC anyway, that’s the useful outcome. If you specifically need HEIC back out, this isn’t that tool.
Does it upload my photos anywhere?
No. Everything happens on your computer. There is no account, no cloud, no watermark, and it works fine offline.
Does it overwrite my originals?
Never. Finished files are written under new names, so the originals and the results live side by side.
