Convert WebP to JPG
Downloaded a picture and your software shrugs at it? That’s probably WebP. Image Squisher converts WebP to JPG locally: drag the files in, ordinary JPGs come out. Works in batches, nothing uploaded.

How to convert WebP to JPG
Same three steps as always.
Drop your WebP files in
Single files or a folder full of them. Moving WebP files are welcome too.
JPG is already the default
On the standard setting, still photos come out as JPG with nothing to set. (It’s also explicit under Settings, Output format.)
Hit Squish
Standard JPGs come out under new names. They open in every program, on every platform, forever.
What is WebP and why is it annoying?
WebP is a picture format made for websites. Sites love it because it’s about a third smaller than JPG at the same look, and every modern browser shows it. The software on your desktop is a different story: older photo programs, some Windows viewers, and a lot of everyday tools still can’t open a .webp file you saved.
That gap between the web and your desktop is exactly what this conversion fixes. Image Squisher reads WebP properly (moving ones too) and hands back a JPG nothing will complain about.
Good to know
- Moving WebP files keep every frame; nothing is dropped.
- No online converter involved: your pictures stay yours.
- Whole batches convert in one go.
Questions, answered
Why not just use an online converter?
You can, but you’d be uploading every picture to somebody else’s server, waiting in a queue, and downloading a zip. Image Squisher does the same job offline, on any number of files, and can’t leak your photos because it never has them.
Will the JPG be bigger than the WebP?
Usually a little, since WebP compresses better. The app re-encodes carefully, so the difference stays small.
Does it overwrite my originals?
Never. Finished files are written under new names, so the originals and the results live side by side.
Which platforms does it run on?
Windows, macOS and Linux. Same app, same engine, free tier on all three.
