IMAGE SQUISHER GUIDE

Remove EXIF and GPS Data From Photos

Image Squisher removes EXIF and GPS data from photos locally, and it’s on by default: every processed photo has the location it was taken, the camera serial, and other identifying details stripped automatically. One switch keeps them for the times you want them.

How to remove EXIF and GPS data

Three steps.

1

Drop your photos in

Everything you’re about to post, send or sell.

2

Leave Remove personal data on

It’s the default. GPS coordinates, camera serial numbers, owner names, editing history and embedded thumbnails come off every file.

3

Hit Squish

Clean photos come out under new names, safe to share. The photo date and camera model stay, which is usually what you want for your own library.

What your photos are telling strangers

Every photo from a phone or camera carries hidden metadata: the exact location where it was taken, the date and time, the device, sometimes the owner’s name and the software used. Post the file anywhere that keeps metadata and you’ve posted your home address, your kid’s school route, or your vacation schedule.

Image Squisher strips the identifying parts by default (location, serials, owner info, edit history, thumbnails) and keeps the useful, harmless parts (date taken, camera model, color profile). If you’re a purist, one toggle takes everything off.

Good to know

  • On by default; nothing to remember before sharing.
  • Keeps date taken and camera model unless you ask for a full wipe.
  • Runs offline. Your photos never visit a metadata-stripping website.

Questions, answered

Don't social networks strip this anyway?

Most do, eventually, when they re-compress your upload. ‘Most, eventually’ is a bad safety habit for a file you also share by email, chat or drive. Clean at the source and it’s clean everywhere.

What exactly is removed?

GPS coordinates, camera serial numbers, owner/artist/copyright fields, software and editing history, comments, and embedded thumbnails. Date taken, camera model and exposure basics stay.

Does it upload my photos anywhere?

No. Everything happens on your computer. There is no account, no cloud, no watermark, and it works fine offline.

Does it overwrite my originals?

Never. Finished files are written under new names, so the originals and the results live side by side.
