About DNG

DNG (Digital Negative) is Adobe’s open RAW format, created so RAW files could outlive any one company’s proprietary format. Plenty of software writes it, including phones: Apple’s ProRAW and older Google Pixel night shots are DNG files sitting in your camera roll right now.

Being open doesn’t make DNGs small, and being RAW means most casual software won’t open them. Converting the ones you care about into JPGs makes them shareable instantly, on any device.

Good to know

  • ProRAW and Pixel DNGs supported alongside Adobe DNGs.
  • Development is automatic and neutral.
  • Works in batches, one after another.

Questions, answered

My iPhone ProRAW files are huge. Help?

That’s what this is for. ProRAW DNGs run 50 MB and up; the finished JPG is a normal photo at a normal size.

Which platforms does it run on?

Windows, macOS and Linux. Same app, same engine, free tier on all three.

Is it really free?

Yes. It costs nothing, needs no account, and whole batches run one after another. Every input format and the full quality engine are included. If you point it at a really big collection you’ll eventually meet the free limit; Pro ($9 once) removes it and adds a watch folder, or you can simply come back tomorrow.

Open format, ordinary photos.
