Compress a Photo to 240KB (or 120KB)
Image Squisher compresses photos under the tiny limits online forms demand: 240 KB for the US green card lottery (the DV program), 120 KB on many other government and visa forms. Type the exact number as a size target and the photo comes in under it at the best quality that fits. Runs offline.

How to compress a photo to 240KB
Three steps.
Drop the photo in
The passport-style shot you need to upload.
Type the limit
Enter 240 KB (or 120 KB, or whatever the form says) as the size target. There are presets for exactly these two numbers.
Hit Squish and upload
The file lands under the form’s cap, first try, no trial-and-error re-saving in a random editor.
Why forms ask for such tiny files
Government upload portals are built for scale and old software, so their limits are brutal: the US diversity visa program wants photos under 240 KB at a fixed 600×600 pixel size, and plenty of other ID and visa forms cap at 120 KB. A modern phone photo is 30 to 100 times over budget.
Hitting a number that small by hand usually means endless Save-As guesswork. A size-target search does it once, properly: measure, encode, check, deliver the best file that genuinely fits.
Good to know
- 120 KB and 240 KB presets built in; any value typeable.
- Pair with exact-dimension resize for pixel-size requirements (600×600 for the DV lottery).
- Runs locally; an ID photo is the last thing to upload to a random web tool.
Questions, answered
My form also demands specific pixel dimensions. Can you do both?
Yes: resize to the exact dimensions first, then set the file-size target. Both settings work together in one pass.
Does it upload my photos anywhere?
No. Everything happens on your computer. There is no account, no cloud, no watermark, and it works fine offline.
Which platforms does it run on?
Windows, macOS and Linux. Same app, same engine, free tier on all three.
Forms accepted on the first try.
