How to convert HEIC to PNG

Under Settings, in Output format, choose PNG. That makes the conversion deliberate, so the app won’t second-guess you about file sizes.

When do you actually want a PNG?
PNG is the safe, keep-everything format: screenshots, drawings, logos, anything with transparent areas. Unlike JPG it never throws detail away, and unlike HEIC it opens everywhere. If your HEIC has a transparent background (some edits and exports produce those), PNG is the format that keeps it.
Fair warning: PNGs of big photos are larger than JPGs, because PNG refuses to lose anything. For ordinary photos you usually want JPG, which is why it’s the default. PNG is the right call when you can’t accept any loss, or when the picture needs its transparency.
Good to know
- The picture stays exactly as sharp as it was.
- PNG output stays PNG: no surprise re-compression.
- Personal details (location, camera serial) are stripped by default.
Questions, answered
PNG or JPG, which should I pick?
For photos you plan to share or store: JPG, it’s much smaller and looks the same. For screenshots, art, transparent images or files you’ll edit further: PNG.
Does it upload my photos anywhere?
No. Everything happens on your computer. There is no account, no cloud, no watermark, and it works fine offline.
Does it overwrite my originals?
Never. Finished files are written under new names, so the originals and the results live side by side.
